Homemade Monkey Shower Cake

Homemade Monkey Shower Cake

We created this Monkey Shower Cake for our sister in-law's baby shower. The theme we chose was based on her selection of bedding etc. for her baby.

We started with a 10 inch base and an 8 inch on top of that. Then we went to work with the fondant to cover the entire cake in the pink and brown stripe with the animals cut out.

Finally the monkeys were made again using fondant and placed on the cake.

I love the cake and am going to try and make it, but would love to know what size cookie cutters you used for the animals?

How to make the monkey's
by: Rob and Jen

I made the monkey's using fondant - I made the heads, bodies and arms separately and let them set over night, then used water to "glue" them together the next day. To make the little hands and feet, I just lightly pressed the ends of the arms and feet. Hope this helps:)

I love monkeys, monkeys are my favorite kind of animal and my baby's room is going to be a monkey theme too. My shower is too but I couldn't find the right kind of monkey cake that I wanted and I think that one is it!
