Homemade Monster Book of Monsters Cake (Harry Potter)
Here is my version of the Monster Book of Monsters Cake (Harry Potter) in edible form. It was created for a little girl turning 8 who loves Harry Potter. She is having an awesome Harry Potter themed party with wizard wands, potions, chocolate frogs and all.
The cake it a red velvet quarter sheet cake decorated in gumpaste and vanilla buttercream. All the gumpaste decorations are hand made, cut, molded and painted. The hand painting is done with vodka and food coloring, and the fur was done with the the Wilton's grass tip. I was very pleased with the final outcome and had a ton of fun making it.
The whole cake is 100% edible, teeth and all. It took about 8 hrs total to complete it and attach all it's parts. It is deliciously creepy and just the right touch for the party. It was hard to part with because it is my favorite cake I've made so far. Hope you enjoy viewing it.
