Homemade Monster Cake
For Halloween, my work has a chili cookoff contest for lunch and invites everyone to contribute either for the contest or a side dish for the lunch. I love cakes, so this Homemade Monster Cake is what I decided to make.
I baked 4 round cakes (2 cake mix boxes) and stacked and iced them 2 nights before the party and then put the whole pile into the fridge. The night before the party I took it out and “gouged” eye sockets out of the cake, using part of what I removed from the eyes to form the nose. Then came green fondant rolled around the sides and black-brown fondant rolled in a circle placed on top for hair. My daughter helped me to roll white and black fondant into eyes and then she helped me to decide on where to put the scars and how to create the rest of the details.
