Homemade Monster Energy Can Cake

I used 5 six inch lemon cakes with lemon curd between layers for this Monster Energy Can Cake. The first 3 layers have wooden dowels for support, the top 2 layers sat on a cake board cut to fit, then I placed it on the bottom layers.

I ran one large plastic rod all the way through the cake (cut hole in middle of cake board before you put the top 2 layers on it). I had to travel with this cake so I needed lots of support.

I frosted with Swiss buttercream then covered with black marshmallow fondant. The more food coloring gel in the fondant makes it harder to work with so I made this a gray color then after I covered the cake I mixed black powdered food coloring with a little lemon juice and painted it on the fondant which gave it a shiny black color.

The top and letters are fondant as well. I traced the letters off of the 4-pack box onto wax paper then cut them out on the fondant with a razor knife. The girl I made this cake for was more than surprised when I walked in with this!

I make my own fondant out of marshmallows. It's easy and good just Google it. If I remember right on the top I just found a big circle for the shape then a smaller one for the indention and drew the rest. I now have silver dust. I wish I would have had then to paint the top, it would have looked great! Thanks for the comments.

You did a great job on this cake. I was thinking of making my Dad a six pack of beer for his 50th birthday, and was wondering where you got your fondant? I bought the Wilton fondant at Michael's one time and it tasted horrible! LOL
