Homemade Monster Truck Birthday Cake

Homemade Monster Truck Birthday Cake

First of all I baked a regular sheet cake for the base of this Monster Truck Birthday Cake. Just iced it as usual and some decoration.

The truck itself is made of a loaf cake purchased from the store (it was more dense, making it easier to carve). I used Hershey's Kisses for the lights on top of the cab; Twizzlers for the bumpers; Crullers for the tires; it was somewhat difficult to ice the tires as they began to crumble; so I simply put them in the refrigerator awhile and then painted the semi-sweet chocolate bits (melted)on them.

After painting them, I put them back in the refrigerator until I finished decorating and put them on at the end of the process.

I knew I needed some "mud" from the tires, so I melted more chocolate bits; cooled it somewhat and then put some behind all the tires.

It was my first Monster Cake, but my boss ask for it for his little boy, so how could I refuse the attempt!
