I had the pleasure of making my three year old grandson’s birthday cake this year. He went to see a monster truck show with his parents and that was all he could talk about. I enjoyed making this Homemade Monster Truck Birthday Cake and the smile on his face made it worth it.

I used 3 boxes of chocolate cake mix and 5 cans of icing. One bag of plain chocolate cookies and some left over chocolate Easter candy. I baked one 1/2 sheet cake and one full sheet cake. I picked up some trucks at Wal-Mart for the top and sides of the cake. The mud in the center was made by crushing the chocolate cookies and the candy was added to hold the trucks in place. The Birthday Banner and cut outs on the cake took a little time to make but well worth the effort.

Needless to say all the children at his birthday party loved the cake. They all asked for some dirt when it was sliced, lol. I think anyone who has a grandson should give this cake a try. It turned out lots of smiles!
