Monster Truck Cake

My son is a big monster truck fan and decided that he wanted a monster truck cake for his 4th birthday. I baked a few cakes in loaf pans and then cut and shaped them into a truck, securing them with frosting. I actually drew a blueprint out on paper before I cut the cake which really helped.

Chocolate donuts made great tires! I put the truck on top of a 1/4 sheet cake frosted with German chocolate cake frosting, which was perfect for dirt! I frosted the truck, used gum drops for the light bar and black licorice for the roll cage.

I added my son's name and age and then using a Wilton #233 tip, I added some grass. My son loved it and I enjoyed making it. Although after all the time I spent on it, I will admit it was a little tough to cut into this one!
