Homemade Nascar Racetrack Cake

First of all I would like to thank all those people who shared their race track cake ideas. This Nascar Racetrack Cake is where my idea came from and I used ideas from several different designs that I saw.

I used a 9x13 cake pan for the center. Then I used a 9 inch round cake pan cut in half and placed on each end of the 9x13 cake to make the oval look. I used white frosting and frosted a thin layer all over cake to hold cakes in place.

Then I measured 2 1/2 inches away from edge for the race track and frosted it with black frosting to make the track look. Then I used Wilton cake decorating tip #233 to create the grass look in the infield and along the outside edge of the cake.

I piped brown frosting all around the track and used Oreo cookies broke in half and placed into brown frosting to create the banking look of a racetrack. I then used my nephew's race cars (washed of course) and placed them around the track.

And of course to race is complete with a few crashes so we flipped one over and ran my son's favorite driver into the wall onto its side. As you can see my son loved his cake. I made this for his 9th birthday.
