Homemade Nintendo DS Pokemon Cake

I made this Nintendo DS Pokemon cake for a little boy who was 9 and loved Pokemon and got a red Nintendo for his birthday.

The cake is a chocolate 13 x 9 sheet cake made from scratch. I then froze it and covered it in chocolate butter cream icing. I coated it in red fondant (sugarpaste). I cut out a large rectangle of white fondant to make the "screen". I made a stencil of Pikachu and Azurill (his favorite character) and cut them out of colored fondants and copied pictures of the Poke Ball and assembled them on the cake. This was pretty time consuming and fiddly but worth it in the end.

All the other bits I made out of fondant like the buttons, power, volume, game cartridge, cross etc. I used a black edible writing pen to write START, SELECT etc. I was really pleased at how the cake turned out.

Now that's a cake! WOW! I made one close to this for my son's 12th b-day. It's not as hard as it seems.

This has to one of the best character/item cakes I've seen. Looks dead on.
