Homemade Octopus Garden Birthday Cake

I made this Octopus Garden Birthday Cake after seeing all of the ideas on this site. I've not made many cakes and this was the first time I'd tried fondant so I was very surprised that it turned out so well.

The fondant recipe is 1 cup of mini marshmallows melted for 20 sec in microwave, stir until soupy, add 1.5 cups of powdered sugar and stir until no longer sticky. I added the food coloring just before the powdered sugar. I also sprayed PAM on my hands which helped because it was still kind of sticky.

The octopus body is a cupcake … the seaweed is fruit roll-up.

I love it! You did a great job! I think I might try your recipe for the marshmallow fondant! I have never used fondant but have always wanted to. Anyway love the cake!
