Homemade Pac Man Birthday Cake

Homemade Pac Man Birthday Cake

I made this homemade Pac Man birthday cake for a good friends' surprise party. My friend wanted her hubby to have an 80's party, so we looked around for ideas. I saw a lot of tiered cakes that included Pac Man and we decided just Pac Man would be cool enough.

The cake is a double layer 1/4 sheet with Pac Man being a 6" cake. I tried to make black fondant to cover the sheet cake, but that was a fail. The sides are frosted white and the top is frosted black, with all other details being fondant.

My idea was to have a giant Pac Man eating the game board and I wanted the writing to be the maze walls. Of course, since it was an 80's cake, I also added the checker board details to the sides and used neon colors for the ghosts and some of the trim details.

I made marshmallow fondant. It is so easy and cheap to do! Pack a 1-cup measure with mini marshmallows, place in a microwave safe dish with 1 Tbsp of water. Heat for 30 second until they puff up. AT this point I add my color, then work in 1 and a 1/2 c - 1 and a 3/4 c confectioners sugar.

This is by far the coolest cake I have ever made.

How did you color the fondant? I have never made a cake before, so I can use all the help I can get.

my sons bday is in Oct. I'm not doing anything big. He has autism so he doesn't like a lot of noise but anyways how much would you charge for a cake like that. I live in Lawrence MA.
