Homemade Peep and the Big Wide World Cake
This Peep and the Big Wide World Cake was really my first attempt at making a 3D cake, it was for my son's 3rd birthday. I used a Wilton egg shaped pan and cut the bottom off (I used the extra piece for a rock and put candles in it). I used a mini cup cake for Quack's hat.
I also made "Peep" and "Chirp" cupcakes to go along with the large "Quack" cake. As this was my first cake I didn't realize you should crumb coat first, so you can see some chocolate cake peeking through the blue frosting. I used chocolate licorice for the legs.
The frosting was vanilla colored the various colors with food coloring. I also used some fish bowl decorations for around the pond I made from tin foil and plastic wrap. This is what Quack is sitting on. My son loved his cake and his friends all enjoyed the peep and chirp cupcakes.
