Homemade Peppa Pig Cake

Homemade Peppa Pig Cake

Here is the George Peppa Pig cake I made for my little boy's 2nd birthday. It is the second cake I have ever made! ( 1st being a heart shaped practice run a couple of weeks ago!).

My son is mad on Peppa and George pig, however it was so difficult to find a boys George pig cake, I decided to attempt it myself.

I made the cake with a large rectangular baking tray and used a standard sponge recipe then filled with jam and butter cream,

I printed out a picture of George to use as a template. After cutting the basic shape from the cake I covered in a thin layer of butter icing then sugar paste roll icing. I decided to do the ears separate and add them to the cake rather than ice the whole thing together,

To cut out the details from icing I again used the print out as a template for the eyes etc.
I decided to add George's favorite toy dinosaur and a balloon!

All in all I think it turned out really well! and saved me a fair bit of money too (cost around £50 to buy online!)

My little boy hasn't seen it yet as the party is tomorrow. I cant wait to see his face, I know he will love it!

My next mission will be to make a Spiderman cake for my other sons birthday in May!

Your cake is the most beautiful george pig cake I have ever seen, better than the professional ones where george pig is not recognisable.

My boy is 2 in december and I am looking for this cake, can you kindly email to me anything and everything that can help me to have a go at making a george pig cake please!!?

Fab Cake!!
by: Anonymous

Just wanted to say how fab your George cake is. My DD is two in a few days and has a dairy allergy so I have to bake my own rather than buy to make it safe for her. She is just mad on George rather than Peppa. You've really inspired me to give it a go. Thank you!

You can buy coloured RegalIce (best to get these from your cake decorating shop - if you have one in your town). To colour your white RegalIce use the gel colours and put a little on a cocktail stick and then knead it in. It is difficult to get a good red colour (or any dark colour for that matter), so best to buy it ready coloured. The water based colours are better for runny icings.

Cover your cake with a thin layer of cream or jam (to help the regal icing to stick to the cake) and roll out the regal ice to cover your cake. Hope this helps for the next time you cover your cakes with regal icing.

I shall be making a Peppa Pig cake today and have got the pink RegalIce for the face and red RegalIce for the skirt part. The arms and legs will be made out of pink RegalIce and the shoes will be shaped from black RegalIce. The whiter of the eyes from white RegalIce, with a small piece of black RegalIce for the centre of the eye.

To make some icing to pipe, just add some cooled boiled water a little at a time to the RegalIce and stir. Keep adding more water until you get the required consistency for your piping. This is a great way of using up any left over RegalIce.

Hope this gives you some tips for the next time you cover your cakes with RegalIce.

Happy cake decorating.

Hi Lyndsey, I just wondered how you managed to ice the cake and colour it. I've done the sponge perfectly and the shape but struggling with the icing. I have brought regal ready to roll icing. Please Please help.
Thanks.

Fantastic
by: Jad Winfield

Like your George pig a lot. You did a really good job. Looking for ideas to do one for my grandson who will be two on 20 Feb 2010 and came across this by chance. Brilliant. He wants a George pig with a dragon.
Might do one this this, or a smaller cake with a picture of George with his dragon, haven't decided yet.
