Coolest Peppa Pig Cake

Here is the George Peppa Pig cake I made for my little boy’s 2nd birthday. It is the second cake I have ever made! ( 1st being a heart shaped practice run a couple of weeks ago!).

My son is mad on Peppa and George pig, however it was so difficult to find a boys George pig cake, I decided to attempt it myself.

I made the cake with a large rectangular baking tray and used a standard sponge recipe then filled with jam and butter cream,

I printed out a picture of George to use as a template. After cutting the basic shape from the cake I covered in a thin layer of butter icing then sugar paste roll icing. I decided to do the ears separate and add them to the cake rather than ice the whole thing together,

To cut out the details from icing I again used the print out as a template for the eyes etc.

I decided to add George’s favorite toy dinosaur and a balloon!

All in all I think it turned out really well! and saved me a fair bit of money too (cost around £50 to buy online!)

My little boy hasn’t seen it yet as the party is tomorrow. I cant wait to see his face, I know he will love it!

My next mission will be to make a Spiderman cake for my other sons birthday in May!

  1. I just wanted to say well done Lyndsay…my son has requested a Dinosaur cake (like George’s in Peppa Pig)for his 3rd birthday. Like you I want to make it myself. I took to the web looking for pics and came across your cake. I can feel your excitement and how proud you must be…you have brought tears to my eyes!! Here’s hoping my cake turns out as well as yours!!! Maria.

  13. Hi everyone firstly Thankyou for your kind comments, I made and uploaded this cake for my sons 2nd birthday party… 5 years ago! I’m just planning his 7th birthday cake football theme…. Crazy how time flys! Well since making the George pig cake and with a bit more practice I turned my hobby into my dream job and became a self employed cake maker, practice really does make perfect! :-)
I really can’t remember where I got the template from it was just google images I think…. the icing I can recommend bako white sugar paste, most local cake shops sell by the kilo works out cheaper than regal ice and still has a nice vanilla taste and clean finish and easy to work with, as for the recipe I always use a Madeira sponge (or Victoria sponge with a little extra flour added) for carved cakes as it’s quite firm but still tasty with jam and buttercream centre xx
