Coolest Phineas and Ferb Cake

My oldest son just loves Phineas and Ferb, so when he turned eight, he wanted to have a Phineas and Ferb birthday party. For our birthdays, we always center the party around what the cake will be, so of course, we had to make a Phineas and Ferb cake.

For this cake, I simply made two rectangular cakes in 9 X 13 pans so I could layer them. I did one chocolate and one yellow, as per his request. I used chocolate icing as a base and then made some green buttercream icing.

I used green buttercream icing on the top of the cake for the grass. Then I dyed some coconut flakes green. I put a few drops of green food dye in a plastic Tupperware and tightly sealed it and shook it. Then I added a bag of coconut flakes, sealed it, and shook it hard for several minutes to make sure all the flakes were coated with the green dye. Then I sprinkled the green coconut flakes onto the cake.

To make the tree, I used toothpicks to hold everything together. I used Tootsie Rolls as the trunk. I mashed about ten Tootsie Rolls together and then shaped them into a tree trunk. For the top of the tree, I bought a bag of fruit-flavored colored marshmallows and picked out all the greens. I put them onto toothpicks kabob style and then stuck the toothpicks into the Tootsie Roll tree trunk.

My kids all have Phineas and Ferb action figures, which you can usually find at Walmart or online. We already had the set, so I just washed them and then put them on the cake.

The cake was Phineas and Ferb in their backyard under their tree.

If I ever do this cake again, I will use some graham crackers for the fence around the edge of the cake.
