Homemade Pink Barbie Cake
I made this cake for my daughter's 3rd birthday. She wanted Barbie and after pricing from bakeries, decided I could do this on my own. It was my 1st attempt at something like this but it was easier than I thought and turned out well I thought!
I used a homemade fondant recipe as I had heard store bought didn't taste well. I used the Wilton Doll Mold set for the dress and baked an 8" round for a base to make it bigger. Before applying the fondant I applied a thin layer of buttercream to get the fondant to stick. I used flower cut outs for the accents and used a head from one of my daughter's Barbies, b/c the Wilton doll wasn't very pretty.
I put the homemade pink Barbie cake on a cake round, but did not have time to cover it, next time I will! Ava loved her homemade pink Barbie cake and was so proud of it!
