Coolest Pink Hello Kitty Cake

My brother asked me to make my niece a Hello Kitty cake for her 9th birthday. I only have boys so Hello Kitty is a bit of a mystery to me, so after looking at millions of pic’s on line and on here looking for ideas I suggested Emo Hello Kitty as I was sick of pink. I did eventually settle on the simple Hello Kitty we ended up with due to a last minute lack of decorating faith.

I used a 10″ square chocolate and vanilla marble cake for her head and a 9″ square one for her body both filled with vanilla butter creme. Using a picture I had found on line that had been blown up to required size, printed and cut out, I carved the shape needed and dirty iced it and left to chill for a while in the fridge.

No matter how hard I tried I could not get my butter icing to go white enough until I found super white in my local cake shop which was brilliant. Using a small star tip I started covering the cake in white and pink and using black for the outline of the bow and dress, eyes and nose (anyone tell me why she has no mouth answers on a postcard please).

She did have whiskers but the girl at the bowling alley who brought out the cake forgot to put them on (and she also put a age 6 candle on it) made out of liquorice wands.

All the girls (and my 3 boys) at the party loved it and my niece was very happy.
