Homemade Pirate Cake with Treasure Island
I made this Pirate Cake with Treasure Island for my son's 4th birthday and we are now worried about how we will ever be able to top it.
The island is 3 layers. The bottom layer is a 1/2 sheet cake and then 2 bread loaf cakes. I stacked the 2 bread pans at an angle on the corner. Once stacked, I cut out part of the bread pans to simulate a waterfall. Then I used buttercream icing (for this cake I used white icing and then I used the spray colors for cake decoring (yellow and green). I used piping gel and colored it blue for the waterfall and the ocean. I then cut out shark fins and placed in the ocean.
The ship cake is just at 9 x 13 pan of chocolate cake. I then just eye-balled the shape of the cake and made it. I used a flat tip to make the deck of the ship look like wood. I then found a clip art for the sails, cut them out and then put them on shish-kabob sticks.
The treasures were from rolos and I also used them as the cannon of the ship.
