Coolest Pirate Ship Birthday Cake

I made this Pirate Ship Birthday Cake for my son’s 7th birthday party. I used two boxes of cake mix. The bottom cake was chocolate with cream cheese icing and the ship was white cake mix with store bought chocolate icing. The bottom is a sheet cake iced with blue icing. I used a butter knife to give the wave effect.

The island is made out of Graham cracker crumbs and I made the palm tree and treasure chest out of fondant.

I made the ship from two round cake pans and cut them out in the shape of a ship. I then iced the ship with chocolate icing and used a toothpick to put lines in the boat. I made the skull & cross bones, cannons and boat windows out of fondant. For the deck railing and ladders I used square pretzels. I printed out pirate flag pictures I found on the internet and attached them to wooden skewers to make the sails.
