Homemade Pirate Ship Birthday Cake

This pirate ship birthday cake was so much fun! I used 4 9x13 cakes, began cutting and pasting. The flags were printed off the computer and I used wooden skewers to keep it all held together.

The cookies have the candles in them and are the "cannons." I used spray food coloring to make the cupcakes blue - after popping the frosting up with a knife, just setting the knife on the cupcake and lifting up. It gave it a nice water effect.

The sharks around the bottom added to the color and just gives it a little more personality. The stern of the boat is 1/2 of a loaf pan cake. I am pleased with how this turned out!

Awesome Cake, very creative indeed. The water muffins are the great finishing touch! Thanks for the inspiration, I'll be attempting a replica for my son's Bday Party which is Pirate themed. Any tips would be most welcome :-)

As cool as this looks in the picture, it was even more amazing in person! The color of the water was great and the lit candles sticking out of the cannons were a perfect finishing touch. You did such a great job!! I can tell this was a total labor of love. Great job PL!!
