Pirate Ship Cake
This pirate ship cake is completely edible except for the paper sails and 3 bamboo skewers inside the cookie masts (for support). I used boxed cake mix and ready-to-decorate frosting & icing from a local grocery store. It's a 2 layer cake; the bottom was made with a Wilton football mold and the top was cut out from a Wilton 9x13 rectangle. The ship details were made with the following ingredients:
- Pepperidge Farm Pirouette Cookies (masts and cannons)
- Pretzels (railings, sail rigging's, supports for upper back end)
- Marshmallows (crows nests)
- Rootbeer barrels (casks)
- Brach caramels (cut in quarters - bales or crates)
- Chocolate balls (cannon balls)
- Lifesavers (port holes)
I made this cake for "Pirate Day" at my son's Kindergarten class. It was fun to make...and everyone loved it! It tasted good too!
