Homemade Pirate Treasure Map and Tinkerbell Cake

Homemade Pirate Treasure Map and Tinkerbell Cake

I made this Pirate Treasure map cake for a neighbor's little girl who loved Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. She wanted only a treasure map and Tinkerbell but after seeing some cakes online came up with this rendition.

The cake is just buttercream colored icing with crushed graham crackers as sand, edible chocolate rocks and chocolate Belgium shells (or you can use choc shell molds if you have time)as islands for plastic fairies to stand on; the map is white fondant with edible gold dust patted on by fingers to look "tea stained or antique.

I used edible food markers to draw on it and black icing to write Happy 4th to make it stand out. I bought sparkle blue gel icing from Michael's Arts/Crafts for water which everyone loved and lastly choc gold coins to decorate border on bottom.

It was a hit and very FUN to make! Especially since my 3 year old son loved crushing the graham crackers in ziplock bag to make sand!
