Finding a birthday cake idea for the pre teen boy is near impossible! I started this Pizza Birthday Cake Design with a 20” circular white cake (baked as directed on the box). I frosted the cake as if it was a pizza, from the center outward (think pizza sauce) with the back of a spoon.
To prepare the frosting I added red food coloring to white store bought icing and heated it slightly to make the consistency thinner. I then topped by pizza with the following:
Chocolate chips – Sausage
Green Swedish Fish – cut into pepper shapes
Grapefruit Gummy Candy – diced to look like onion
Caramels – shaped to look like mushrooms
Red Fruit Roll-Up – Pepperoni
White Chocolate – shaved to look like cheese.
Once decorated I popped it into the oven to melt my “cheese”. I finished the cake off by sliding it into a pizza box. The pizza cake was a huge hit with my son!
