Homemade Police SWAT Car Birthday Cake
This Police SWAT Car Birthday Cake was made using the Wilton 3-D car cruiser cake pan. I used a boxed mix, white cake according to the pan's directions. I drew out my color scheme first on paper based on a hot wheels police car my son had nearby. Then I tinted homemade buttercream icing: lemon yellow, no-taste red, grey (mixed black and white), black, royal blue.
I bought a sheriff's badge at the party store to place on the hood. I used #21 tip for most of the bodywork and #2 tip for the outlines. I have a larger tip than #2, unnumbered, for the windows which I piped then smoothed with a wet finger.
The police officer was a toy figure I colored with a sharpie to be a SWAT team member. The antenna was a toothpick colored black with a sharpie. The tires were Oreo cookies "glued" into place with a small dab of icing. My son was turning 5 so I made the car number 05 on the roof.
