Homemade Polka Dot and Zebra Print Birthday Cake
My daughter completely designed her Polka Dot and Zebra Print Birthday Cake. By all means she wanted a green and black zebra print cake with polka dots.
We made a 3 tier cake with dowels inserted at each level for support. The bottom tier was 10 inches and was white cake with a chocolate filling. The 7 inch center tier was chocolate cake with chocolate filling. The top tier measured 4 inches and was white cake with a cream cheese filling.
The cake mixes were all store bought. The entire cake was covered with a homemade buttercream icing then fondant was used for accents. The fondant was a buttercream recipe that was found online. The zebra stripes were cut free hand with a pizza cutter and the circles were cut with a circle fondant cutter. My husband constructed the stainless steel "E" at work, then I covered it with stick-on jewels for a little sparkle.
