Coolest Pooh Baby Shower Cake

I made this Pooh baby shower cake for my husband’s niece’s baby shower. Her theme was Winnie the Pooh. I found a picture of Winnie the Pooh that I liked and made it large enough (on a copier) to fit on a 9×13 cake. I cut out the picture of Pooh to use for later.

I made a boxed cake mix according to the package directions, let it cool and frosted it with canned white frosting. I then placed the cake in the freezer.

When the cake was frozen I removed the cake and placed the picture of pooh lightly over the frozen icing. I then used a tooth pick to “trace” the outline of Pooh onto the cake. I removed the picture and used the tooth pick to draw in the eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth, shirt sleeves, paws, etc.

I used black tube icing and traced all of the lines I made with the tooth pick. I used yellow tube icing with a star tip to fill in Pooh, red tube icing with star tip to fill in Pooh’s shirt, and blue tube icing with a star tip to fill in his honey pot. (Although I did the honey pot with a star tip I didn’t make stars – I squeezed back and forth in a zig-zag pattern.) I used the remaining red tube icing with a star tip to outlline the bottom of the cake and then used a round tip to write “Welcome Hunny” (Hunny is spelled like it is in the Winnie the Pooh stories – not the actual spelling of HONEY). I used black gel icing to make the bee, and filled it in with the yellow tube icing. I put the cake back in the freezer until the morning of the shower.

The morning of the shower I took the cake out and filled in the honey on Pooh’s paw and in the jar with actual honey!
