Homemade Pool Table Birthday Cake

This chocolate Pool Table Birthday Cake was for a friend's 40th birthday who plays pool. I used a 9" square cake, cut the side off to make a rectangle and then put the section cut off to the end, to lengthen it. It was covered in chocolate buttercream, and then covered with fondant icing. I painted the table with food paste and water to give a wood effect, and used gold edibles to look like studs.

I purposely made the triangle and balls a lot bigger, as I didn't particularly want it to look to scale. I wanted it to be more fun. I put an oversized chalk on the table and a large pint of beer. I made the white look frothy on top by using a small flower piping tip and twisting it into the fondant.
