Homemade Power Ranger Cake
My son had a Power Rangers theme for his 5th birthday and wanted a Power Ranger cake to match. I'd only seen one in the shops and it didn't look very good so I decided to have a go myself.
I scoured the internet for ideas and finally decided to use the picture on his Power Rangers cup as a template. Firstly I made a rough outline shape of the ranger mask to the size that I wanted. I then copied the details of the mask onto the template so I had something to work from.
I made a basic sponge cake using 2x 7in cake tins then used the template to trim round to make the mask shape. I covered the cake with apricot jam then used red icing to cover the top and sides of the cake. Then using my template as a guide I used black and some more red icing to build up the main features.
With the icing that was left I cut out the letters for his name and the no.5.
It was easier than I thought it would be and most importantly, my son loved it.
