Homemade Present Cake
This Present Cake was my first attempt to fondant and it turned out to be so much fun! This cake got a lot of fun comments and overall was a hit with all those who saw it.
The cake itself was a carrot cake. I baked just one 9x9 deep cake and allowed it to cool overnight. I then iced it with white chocolate ganache. The next day, I played with the fondant and used gel dye to get the deep red color of the 'wrapping paper' (it doesn't look as deep of red as it actually was in person.) The bow turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the cake and was so easy to make.
All in all I probably have about 5 hours into this cake, but it was well worth it. I'm excited to start making my next cake! I completely understand now why they say Fondant is play-doh for adults.
