Homemade Princess Ariel Birthday Cake Design
I made this Princess Ariel Birthday Cake Design for my daughter's 5th birthday! She had wanted a princess theme and chose Ariel. I used a 9x13 sheet cake and a small Pyrex bowls for the cake. For the dress part of the cake I baked a pound cake in the Pyrex bowls.
I had made a little fondant Sebastian and a little fondant flounder to add to my princess theme. I did all the icing work on the sheet cake and made the lake out of piping gel and placed fondant rocks around it. I had placed the dress portion on a cake board cut a hole in it and inserted Ariel. I carved the cake to make more of a dress shape (my cake was still partially frozen at this point). When I had the desired shape I crumbcoated and placed it on the cake. I then added fondant to it to make the dress.
My daughter told me it was the best birthday cake ever and gave me the biggest kiss and hug!
