Coolest Princess Birthday Cake

My little granddaughter was having a princess party so I made this Princess Birthday Cake.

Using Madiera sponge recipe, I made two cakes. One was in a pudding basin and the other a round 8″ cake tin, same diameter as widest part of pudding basin.

I sandwiched the pudding basin cake on top of round cake using butter cream. I then pushed a Barbie type doll (pre-washed)into the center of the cake. Then I cut a panel out of the front of the cake to create a panel of ball gown. Covered whole cake in butter icing.

I used a white fondant icing rolled out and cut to fit panel on front of dress. I then rolled some pink icing, rolled out and cut to the rest of bottom of cake. I cut small piece to create bodice on top half of body and decorated across shoulders with white trim. All these pieces were decorated with edible glitter before assembly. A bow was fitted to back of dress.

I then glittered small flowers and stuck on panel of dress and also on pink area, on this part of dress I joined each flower up with piping to create net affect. Dusted over with more glitter, piped name etc on board and made flower shapes out of icing to support candles.

Hope you all get inspired.
