Homemade Princess Cake
My daughter wanted a princess cake for her birthday. I looked online and this cake is a combination of ideas that I found. I baked a 9x13 cake for this. I frosted it with white buttercream and did a rope edging around the bottom. The Cinderella is actually a Polly Pocket style that I found at Walmart. The birds are cardboard that was the backdrop in the Cinderella package.
The bushes and pumpkins are formed out of fondant. I used the grass tip in the corner that I put the bushes on. I just randomly started putting vines around the cake and placing pumpkins around the edge until I was pleased with the effect. For the birds, I just put a bit of butter cream on the back and "glued" them where I wanted them.
I hate my writing on cakes, so I usually use a "stamp" set that I found in the cake decorating section. Then you just trace over it. I think my cakes turn out much better that way. My daughter loved it!
