Homemade Princess Castle Birthday Cake
My princess wanted a Princess Castle Birthday Cake for her 3rd birthday and how can a mum say no to such a request. I started off by baking a large rectangular cake that I used as a base. I then baked another 2 same sized square cakes that I placed on top of each other.
Next I baked another cake, this time a round one that I placed right on top. Four tiny muffins served as towers for my castle cake. Ice-cream cones dipped in icing sugar and coated in 100s & 1000s brightly coloured sprinkles gave a finishing touch to the towers.
I used ready made icing paste to cover and decorate all the cakes. Of course the main colours had to be lilac and baby pink, fit for a little princess! I decorated the cake with flower-shaped marshmallows. I placed tiny Disney princess dolls around the castle - we ordered these from eBay and they arrived right on the day I was setting up the cake, this was a huge surprise for our daughter and indeed made her birthday a special one.
TIP - ideally you bake cakes in advance and freeze them so on the day you are assembling the cake you just have to worry about decorating it. I promise it is easy to make. I loved preparing mine and the look on your daughter's face will be the greatest reward you'll get for preparing the cake. Enjoy!
