Homemade Princess Castle Birthday Cake

This Princess Castle Birthday Cake was my first attempt at making a cake. I thought I would give it ago. I was confident in my cake making but not my decorating. I made a simple Madeira sponge mix but I separated the mixture into two and added pink dye to half then when I put it in the tin I swirled it to give it a marble effect.

I used a large roasting tin for the bottom and then a loaf tin for the top then I sliced them through the middle and added jam in then covered them in pink icing. I cheated a little and brought the ready rolled stuff and just added pink dye.

For the towers I used ice cream cones covered in white chocolate with a little pink dye then lots of glittery bits to make it sparkle. I think I did okay for my first attempt. The icing was a little rough but I'll learn foe next time.
