Coolest Princess Castle Birthday Cake

I have been making a lot of castle cakes recently for my friends. So I thought I would share them with you.

I made this Homemade Princess Castle Birthday Cake from 3 different size tins. A 11″ slab, 8″square and a 7″ round tin. I made all the 3 cakes chocolate sponge and put a deep filled chocolate butter cream filling. For the towers I made another 11″ chocolate cake and divided them into rectangle shapes so they stood up properly to fit the castle.

I covered all 3 cakes and towers in apricot glaze, it helps the fondant stick to the cake and also seals the cake from crumbs which might bubble under the icing. I used white fondant to cover the cakes and coloured some fondant pink and purple. I left the cake to settle with the fondant on it as didn’t want it ripped while putting the decorations on.

While that was drying I cut the points of some ice cream cones and covered the top and bottom of the cones in the pink and purple fondant. When the cake was dry enough to place the decorations on I used edible glue to stick the points on. I made windows and the door also from fondant. I drew some climbing vines all around the cake with royal icing and used a nozzle, 2.5. I also used royal icing for the grass as well.

I then stuck some little candy flowers growing up the vines to look pretty.
