Coolest Princess Castle Birthday Cake

My daughter is used to giving me a hard time when it comes to her birthday cake every year. She always wants mommy to make it and each year is more difficult than the last. This year was her 5th birthday and she wanted a Princess Castle Birthday Cake. So this was my best effort.

I cooked one 10in round golden butter recipe cake and one very small round cake with the same mix. I put white plastic dowels in the bottom large layer and then rough iced it and added the top layer. Then I rough iced that one.

I began adding the towers. I pre colored my icing ahead of time. Then I iced my waffle ice cream cones for the peaks of the towers and added them with icing. I piped my outline for the windows and doors. Also I pre made my flowers out of rose color fondant. I used a forget me not flower cutter to make them and dotted a dot of icing in the middle of each one. I added them to the cake with icing.

I only used buttercream icing on this cake. This was my first castle cake so I was pleased with the results.

  1. What did you use for the towers? The tall skinny part? I see it is sugar cones, but hat did you stack them on? And my daughter is JUST like yours! Difficult cakes each year!!
