Coolest Princess Castle Cake

My sister and I made this princess castle cake for my best friend’s daughter’s 1st birthday. We had so much fun doing it and the response we got from both the parents and the kids when we brought it out to sing was worth every bit of work we put into it. We got the basic design idea from numerous cakes listed on this website and combined them into the one you see here.

We made a double layer rectangle cake and a double layer round cake which we mounted on top. We let the cake cool over night and iced and decorated it the day of the party.

We used whipped white icing and lightly sprinkled pink glitter sugar all over. For the turrets we used ice cream cones rolled in white chocolate placed end to end. We let them dry in the fridge also the night before. The peaks are sugar cones rolled in white chocolate and sprinkled with pink glitter sugar.

The rest was assembly and icing which really adds the finishing touches. The princesses are chip board pieces which you can get at any craft store which we taped tooth picks to the back and then inserted them into the cake. We also made magnet favors which had ribbon that with the date and birthday girls name which we used extras as the flags on top of the peaks.

All and all it was a big hit. My friend cried when I showed it to her. Good luck with your castle cakes and have fun!

  1. Great idea using the pretzels!! It really is such a cute cake, I will try one very similar. I also love the pink sugar glitter idea. This will be my first attempt at a non traditional cake, so thanks for the great idea!
