Coolest Princess Castle Cake

I made this Princess Castle Cake for my daughter’s 4th birthday. I used the Wilton Castle cake set that you can buy at Hobby Lobby or Wal-mart.

I made two 9″ rounds and two 6″ rounds and crumb coated the cakes and put them in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before applying fondant and stacking the cakes. I used tinted (rose) royal icing to make the flowers by hand two days prior to assembly in order for them to have enough time to dry. I applied tinted (lavender) royal icing and cake sprinkles to the top of the towers the day before assembly. I used pre tinted purple fondant to make the balls on top of the towers. I used cut dowels to insert the towers into the top cake and hot glued the towers around the cake to the cake board for stability. I used green icing to pipe around the bottom of the towers.

This cake takes a lot of time but is well worth the effort!!
