My three year old wanted a princess castle with princesses. I tried to use a castle formed pan and had no luck. I then just made a two tiered cake covered with buttercream icing then pink fondant. The windows, doors and trim were all made with fondant as well.
A couple of days before the party I used a fondant and gumpaste mixture to make the towers. I took two toilet paper and two paper towel rolls covered with plastic wrap as molds to wrap the fondant around. I then let them sit and dry till the day of the party. To finish off the towers I iced sugar cones and then rolled them in colored sugar. I attached them with icing.
The princesses are dome shaped cupcakes with my daughters Polly Pockets stuck down the middle. I wrapped their legs and bodice with plastic wrap so there would not be crumbs in the body.
This Homemade Princess Castle Cake Idea was a lot of work but when my daughter woke up on her birthday and said, “It is perfect!” it was all worth it.
