Coolest Princess Crown Cake

This Princess crown cake was for a 1st birthday party. I had been wanting to try a cake with a crown on it so this was the perfect occasion! I baked two layers of chocolate cake and filled and frosted with chocolate butter cream. I added food coloring because I wanted a darker brown. I then cut flowers and stripes from marshmallow fondant, and piped a border out of vanilla butter cream I tinted pink.

The crown was very simple. I just Googled a tiara template, and printed to size. Then I taped it to the side of an oatmeal container, and taped a piece of wax paper over that. You can use any type of cylinder shaped container, just make sure you can slide the tiara off the end easily. I used white chocolate in a Ziploc bag to pipe the design of the crown.

I went back over the design a second time with the white chocolate, then sprinkled with pink sprinkles and let it set in the freezer. After frosting and decorating the cake I untaped the wax paper, slid off the end and placed on the top of the cake. If any pieces break, it can easily be repaired with some more melted white chocolate.

Have fun with this cake, the possibilities are endless!
