Coolest Princess Doll Cake

For my daughter’s 4th birthday, she requested a Sleeping Beauty theme. I read about making a doll cake from the Pampered Chef glass mixing bowl, and thought I would give it a try and make her a princess doll cake! I used 2 cake mixes and baked one cake in the Pampered chef bowl, the other in an 8″ pan.

TIP: Bake the cake in a greased/floured Pampered chef bowl for about 1 hour plus an additional 10 minutes on 325 degrees.

After the cakes were completely cooled, I cut off the excess cake to make them flat. I would recommend freezing them at this point.

I inverted the dome cake and cut a round hole in the center- similar to a bundt cake, but wide enough to fit the doll. I then placed this cake on top of the 8″ round cake.

I prepared the doll by wrapping the bottom half in plastic wrap, and securing it with a rubber band.

Once the cake was fully frozen, to prevent it from cracking, I placed the doll in the center, and filled in the “gap” with frosting.

TIP: you may need to bend the legs a bit.

Next I added lace trim, secured with toothpicks, to make a “skirt”. This also helped camouflage where the cakes meet. I then frosted and decorated the cake. I found it helpful that the cake was frozen to prevent crumbs.

After all the hard work, we did not eat the cake!

But it was all worth it to see my daughter’s eyes light up!
