Homemade Puppy Birthday Cake

This Puppy Birthday Cake was for a little boy's 1st birthday. I sculpted the whole thing out of all different sized and shaped cakes. I held it together with dowel rods and toothpicks. Be sure to keep a tally of all toothpicks you use so you can count them while serving the cake to be sure nobody gets hurt!

I used pound cake because this cake had an hour's drive to the party and I wanted to be sure it held. I used the grass tip for the fur and a writing tip for the eyes, nose, and mouth. For the hat I frosted a sugar cone.
