Homemade Puppy Cake

For my son's 1st birthday, I wanted to have a puppy theme cause he loves dogs. I borrowed a 101 Dalmatian cake pan from a relative. The cake it self was a store bought white cake mix. I threw some sprinkles in the mix to make it more fun.

The icing I used was Wilton's decorating icing. I used this because I was to chicken to make my own. I covered the puppy cake in white icing then used brown, blue and pink icing dyes to do the ears, tail, tong, and collar. I felt that I needed to give the cake some sort of texture, so I used a star tip and the blue icing to do the collar.

Then I did all the outlining with a tube of black decorating icing. I'm kinda new at cake decorating, and I will have to say this was a lot of fun. I think I might have found a new hobby.
