Coolest R2D2 Cake 33

Homemade R2D2 Cake

After browsing this website for R2D2 cake ideas, I came up with this one. I used three from scratch, plain pound cake recipes to make five 9 inch round layers and a dome pan to make the "head". The bottom round 6 inch layer, arms/legs, and the light on the dome were made from three recipes of Rice Krispy Treats.

I carved them and covered them in buttercream icing then added the details in fondant. The base of the cake is covered in buttercream as the friend that I made it for did not want it in fondant.

The cake is held together with dowel rods on the three tiers and then three others going all the way through the cake.

This cake was a lot of fun and I enjoyed all of the examples from this site. Thanks!
