Homemade Rainbow Dash My Little Pony Cake

I made this Rainbow cake, My Little Pony-Rainbow Dash, along with another My Little Pony-Pinkie Pie (also posted) with the retired Precious Pony cake pan by Wilton, which you can either rent from a local bake shop or buy on sites such as eBay. The cakes were made for a 4 year old girl's birthday party.

I made a buttercream icing and added the Wilton Color Sky Blue. I put the icing on the cake, smoothed it out with an angled spatula and then patted it perfectly smooth with a paper towel (no print at all-Viva Papertowels work perfectly). The rainbow tail and hair were done with tip #21. The hoof had a purple heart done with tip #3.

There is a green heart in the eye, and the eyes are multicolored Purple, gold, and green all done with # 3. For the black outline, I used chocolate icing I had made and added black Wilton gel to make it black.
