I made this homemade Red Sox cake for my 2 grandson’s birthdays & they loved it! I never decorated a cake before so I surfed the internet & came to your site to get ideas. I saw a playing field cake & tried to replicate it.
I used an over-sized round cake pan, 2 cake mixes, 3 cans of chocolate frosting & green sprinkles for the grass. For the balls I decided to make Cool Whip cupcakes — 1 Chocolate cake mix, 1 container of cool whip & red gel for threads. Cut a hole in the center of the cupcake fill & frost with Cool Whip – decorate & refrigerate.
