Homemade Scooby Doo Mystery Machine Cake

I made this Scooby Doo Mystery Machine cake for a friend's son that wanted a Scooby Doo cake. I tried to order the Scooby Doo cake pan online and didn't receive it in time. I had to compromise, so I decided to make the Mystery Machine.

I baked a 1/2 sheet cake and then let it completely cool. Then I drew the van on the cake with a toothpick and cut the cake. I used chocolate donuts for the wheels, so I had to cut the cake so the donuts would fit. I placed the donuts on the cake like wheels and then notched the cake out. The donuts fit down in the cake resembling a tire. I used icing to hold the donuts on.

I made buttercream icing and tinted it teal, leaf green, orange, pale blue and left some icing untinted. I drew the designs on the cake with a toothpick and then began to ice the cake with a star tip. The Scooby Doo in the window was a candy cake decoration I found at the local cake store.

It was a blast to make!
