Sesame Street Cake

Sesame Street Cake

I made this Sesame Street cake for my son's first birthday. It is three tiers of 2 layer cakes, 2 vanilla and 1 chocolate. I used the pre-colored fondant for the bottom and just cut it into equal sized strips.

I used jumbo star sprinkles for the middle layer and elmo sugar decorations for the top. The top layer was for my son to destroy and eat by himself! It took me about 6-7 hours total to make but my son kept waking up when he was supposed to be going night-night!

Also, it wasn't my intention for it to turn out so uneven but I guess it ended up adding to its charm! I have never decorated or made a cake like this before but I did my best!

Wonderful

You did a great job for your first time. This cake looks like you meant to make what is called a Topsy Turvy cake. It is wonderful. Nice colors and a very well executed design! Keep up the good work. There is nothing like making a cake and seeing everyone's reaction to it.

Great Job!

Thank you for sharing your idea online. I called a cake company in my neighborhood to order a 3 tier cake & it was approximately $300. When I heard that, I immediately thought, I'll do it myself. So, I'm going to make a test cake to see how it turns out. You sure gave me confidence when you said this was your first time so thank you. And, your cake definitely looks like you paid big $$$$. I wanted to make a special cake for my sons first birthday. His daddy is overseas and I wanted to make up for that with a fun birthday cake. I looked online at tons of cakes. I fell in love with this one and for it being your first one I wanted you to know it is good. I hope mine turns out well...at least ok to bring out in public at my little mans special day...
