Homemade Sesame Street Cupcakes
My son loves Sesame Street, so for his 3rd birthday we decided to make Sesame Street cupcakes. For Elmo, I used frosting mixed with red food coloring and then dipped the cupcake in red sugar crystals. I split a large marshmallow in half for the eyes, and used chocolate chips for the pupils. The nose was an orange peanut m&m, and the mouth was half an Oreo cookie. For Cookie Monster, I used frosting mixed with blue food coloring and then dipped the cupcake in blue sugar crystals.
I split a large marshmallow in half for the eyes, and used chocolate chips for the pupils. The mouth was half an Oreo cookie. For Big Bird, I used frosting mixed with yellow food coloring and then dipped the cupcake in yellow sugar crystals. For the eyes I used dollops of white frosting and chocolate chips for the pupils. I used a line of blue and pink decorating icing gel above the eyes, and a candy corn for the nose. I used icing as "glue" to hold down the marshmallows, candy corns, m&ms, and cookies in all the cupcakes.
