I made this Shrek Birthday Cake for my niece’s 2nd birthday. She loves Shrek, but I thought a big green ogre head was not what her parents had pictured for their little girl’s 2nd birthday, so I decided to make Shrek’s house and the swamp. I got the characters on eBay.
It is a basic sheet cake and then another 8×8 cake cut and stacked to form the house and chimney. The trees I got the idea off this site of pretzel sticks with marshmallows on them and then icing. I held the pretzels together with chocolate, but carved out a notch in the large stick first. The swamp is just store bought chocolate icing. The door and path to the house are graham crackers broken and then sprayed with black food color.
I was very pleased at how well it came out and she loved it.
