Homemade Shrek Birthday Cake
This Homemade Shrek Birthday Cake was my first attempt of such a big novelty cake. The bottom layer and number is chocolate cake. The cake is covered in plastic icing and the edges of the cake is finished off with butter icing. It took me two days to finish the cake. I struggled a bit with the face as I would have liked it to be made out of cake but in the end I had to use plastic icing.
I unfortunately did not have a number two cake pan and had to cut the number out of a 34cm square cake pan. The vines of the plants are butter icing and the flowers cut with a cutter from plastic icing. The cake would have finished off perfectly if I had the tools to write on the gate “keep out”!
